Monster Curry @ ION Orchard

The biggest and heaviest Japanese curry rice in Singapore - Monster Curry, is back in ION Orchard! Thanks to Cookie's extended invite, I got to attend the food tasting session.

Some years back, there was a similar concept Japanese curry store called Go! Go! Curry! that had ceased operation. I remembered trying their food once but was rather disappointed with the bland curry taste. So, I wondered how Monster Curry would fare. Luckily, it was all good.

Read on to find out my review of Monster Curry (:

ION Orchard Outlet #B4-52
Tel: 6509 4555

Basically, you need to place your order and pay at the cashier counter.

Then, you wait for your food to be served here. It will take approximately 15mins during non-peak hours. I am not too sure about peak hours though.

We got to try out this new beverage - Matcha Latte that is not available on the menu as yet. I find it a lil' too milky and it would be good that the matcha taste is stronger.

Monster Curry Combos >> S$24 - S$25!

Original / Meat / Seafood Curry choices >> S$9 - S$14!

Extra / Topping Items / Drink >> S$1 - S$4.50!

Curry spicy level (1 to 5 Flame)!

Monster Hot, anyone? :P

I ordered the Pork Shabu-Shabu Omelette Curry (S$14) with additional cheese (+S$1). The more popular choices are the Chicken/Pork Katsu Curry (S$13). By the way, I was pretty surprised to find out that their curry sauce is made from fresh fruits... bet you didn't know that! heh.

The 3 chilli circles represent 3 Flame (Very Hot). Woah! That was seriously real spicy (with a hint of fruity sweetness)! Too spicy for me to handle... think 2 Flame (Extra Hot) should suffice.

See how freaking huge the plate is - a whopping 34cm in diameter! My big head is so small as compared to the plate :s

Though the serving portion is very-very generous, I was so-sooo hungry that I managed to polish everything off the plate, including the side veggies (cabbage + carrot bits). Actually, this can be shared among 2 small eaters.  Hmm... I can really eat a lot ya :x

However, if you and your friend(s) are big eaters, I would suggest that you order any of the combo curry sets (S$24-S$25) that have even bigger portion.

This is a winning combination of tender shabu-shabu pork meat, cooked-to-perfection cheesy omelette, fragrant fluffy rice and delectable spicy Japanese curry sauce!

Yummilicious~ :d~

I tried a slice of the pork as well as the chicken katsu. Both have a thin and light crispy batter that was fried to golden perfection. Though the pork/chicken katsu meat was not as tender as the shabu-shabu pork meat, they still taste good nevertheless.

And, I also tried a little of the nattō (traditional Japanese food made from soybeans fermented with bacillus subtilis). Frankly speaking, it is not a dish that everyone will enjoy since the taste and smell are kinda strong. Plus, the soybeans have this slight slimy texture.

Well, I don't mind eating since nattō is known to be good for health!

Shall end off the post with pics with the bloggers.

That's all for now. Thank you for reading!

Lovin' My Purple Hair!

Here's a pic collage of my hair journey with my lovely hair stylist, Chisato.

So far, I've been changing my hair color bi-monthly. It always feels great stepping out of Shunji Matsuo 313 with perfect-looking hair, thanks to Chisato-san (:

This time, I requested for a fully dark purple hair color for a change. My previous red/orange ends were super faded by then. And, I reckoned that a dark hair color will be good.

Fyi, it took about 3 hours to bleach and color my hair. It usually takes at least 6 hours for loud hair colors like the blue I did previously.

As usual, I walked out of the hair salon looking fresh with the presumably new hairstyle and dark hair color.

Thanks to the dark hair color plus bangs, I somehow look much younger than my actual age. Some commented that I look cute. Elaine said that I look like schoolgirl (O-M-G)! I take that as compliments - thank you! :P

So happy!

Here's a closer look at my hair, under bright lighting. As you can see, the purple hues are more obvious especially the ends (bleached many-many times previously).

By the way, most did not notice that I had part of my hair shaved. Hmm... my left profile seriously looks like boy :x

This was my "new" hair color after a month or so. It was pretty interesting to see my hair color fading day by day, to much noticeable bright ashy shades of purple, red-violet and violet.

Lovin' my purple hair!

SOTHYS - Launch of Lifeline (Fil de Vie) Energizing Line

Last month, I had the privilege to attend the launch of SOTHYS Lifeline (Fil de Vie) Energizing Line (held at 10 Scotts, Grand Hyatt Singapore).

Skin’s energy reserve is the source of glowing radiance that reveals natural beauty. As time goes by, it will start to deplete thus losing its radiance and begin to show signs of ageing.

That's me trying out the various cream textures :D

The Energizing Day Cream comes in light [normal to combination skin] and comfort [normal to dry skin] variants. I prefer the light variant as it is not as creamy as the comfort one and it absorbs into the skin faster too.

light, comfort, night

I've tried out both Energizing Comfort Day / Night Cream for about 2 weeks. Here are my initial thoughts on them:

Both have a pleasant floral scent that makes me feel relaxed while I massage the creams onto my face. After using the Day Cream, I find that my skin does look more radiant and youthful. As for the Night Cream, my skin looks less tired in the morning even though I slept barely 4hrs the night before. The texture of both are quite creamy, hence I just need a pea-size amount each for the face and neck. A little goes a long way.

A cup of coffee (and desserts) to perk me up!

And not forgetting... delicious canapés! :d~

Thank you, SOTHYS Singapore!
