Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion [New Nano Formula]

Like Hada Labo SHA Hydrating LotionHada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion now comes in the New Nano Formula. Prior to this, I've not tried the one without.

According to Hada LaboArbutin Whitening Lotion is so well loved by Japanese women that it is the "No.1 Whitening Lotion in Japan". It has a simple tagline: One Drop Reveals Natural FairnessHada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion gives users 3 benefits (of Shirojyun Whitening) in just 1 step >> Deep Moisturizing, Intensive Repairing, Double Whitening.

Its main ingredients - Arbutin + Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid, helps users to achieve fair, moist and bright skin.

  • Arbutin, an extract from natural plant bearberry, has natural whitening properties to fight dark spots. It also smooths and clarifies to optimize skin's radiance and translucency.
  • Vitamin C helps reduce the appearance of dark spots to reveal clearer and fairer skin.
  • Hyaluronic Acid hydrates skin intensely, leaving it feel soft and supple.

It is free of fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant. Skin pH balanced. Low irritation.

Ingredients:

Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Arbutin, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Disodium Succinate, Methylparaben, Styrene/ VP Copolymer, Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Succinic Acid, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate

In terms of packaging, Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion and SHA Hydrating Lotion are almost identical, just the bottle color difference. The former is blue whereas the latter is white.

The lotion is in a cloudy, liquidy form. It has an ultra light consistency, which feels almost like water. For my face, 2 drops of the lotion will suffice. To apply, simply pat the lotion onto the skin gently. There will a very mild sticky feeling in the initial stage. Once the lotion is absorbed into the skin, the sticky feeling dissipates. As it comes in the New Nano Formula, the rate of absorption is really fast.

There is no sign of irritation, which is good. I am particularly wary of trying out whitening products, as some tend to irritate my sensitive skin. It does clarify and brighten my skin slightly (while keeping it well hydrated) after 2 months of use.

Want to try out Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion? You can redeem a complimentary 20ml travel-size bottle via Hada Labo(sg) FB Page.

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Eye Cream

I haven't review an eye cream for the longest time, a few months to be exact. Anyway, in this post, I'm going to talk about this Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) Moisturizing Eye Cream by Hada Labo.

Like the reformulated Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Lotion, this moist eye cream contains 3 types of hyaluronic acid [nano, super, normal] that deeply moisturize the delicate skin around the eyes for instant suppleness and softness. It also contains ACTIFLOW (visibly lighten dark circles and reduce puffiness), natural Jojoba Oil & extracts (effectively smoothen fine lines and aging skin around the eye area).

You can rest assured that it is:

  • free of fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant
  • skin pH balanced
  • low irritation

- ingredient list as shown -

It comes in a simple plastic white bottle with a pump dispenser. Hygiene is ensured as there is no direct contact with the eye cream.

A pea-size amount is what you need for both eyes. I gently pat the eye cream on the delicate skin around my eyes.

The eye cream has a light gel-cream texture, which doesn't feel overly rich. It is easy to apply and spread over the delicate skin around my eyes without tugging. It absorbs fast and easily, leaving no sticky or greasy feel after which.

I've enjoyed using this eye cream so far. I love that it is highly moisturizing, keeping my eyes well hydrated all day long. I do have fine lines, but not many. After using this eye cream for nearly 3 months, I notice that it does help to smooth out the fine lines effectively, making them less visible. It scores in reducing puffiness too. As for dark circles, I can see that they look slightly lightened. The difference is not that great, since I do not have serious dark circles to begin with. Or should I say, I've been using awesome eye care products so far.

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Eye Cream (15g) retails for only $21.90 at Watsons and Guardian. For the high quality you're getting, the price is too good to resist!

Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Lotion [New Nano Formula]

Hada Labo's best-selling Hydrating Lotion (1 sold every 2s in Japan!) is reformulated and now comes in New Nano Formula!

For those who are unfamiliar with the term "lotion", it is also known as "toner" in Japan. According to Hada Labo, the Hydrating Lotion is a "toner" that prepares the skin for better absorption of other skin care products. It also helps make the skin smoother and more moisturized.

The reformulated Hydrating Lotion contains 3 types of hyaluronic acid [nano, super, normal] that deeply penetrate the skin (epidermis) to nourish and help restore skin's barrier to prevent moisture loss.

Apart from the new Nano Formula, everything else about it remains the same.

  • Instantly hydrates skin and helps preserve its optimum moisture balance.
  • Replenishes and locks-in moisture for complete hydration. Skin feels significantly soft and supple.
  • Helps improve dry and dehydrated skin, leaving it silky smooth.
  • It is free of fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant. Skin pH balanced. Low irritation.

Ingredients:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Methylparaben, Disodium Succinate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Succinic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate

The packaging remains the same, simple and fuss-free.

2 drops is what I need for the whole face. I gently pat the Hydrating Lotion onto skin until it is fully absorbed. Then, I apply serum and day/night cream thereafter.

The consistency of the new Hydrating Lotion, is lighter and feels slightly more watery. It absorbs within a min, so much faster than the old one. It does feel slightly sticky initially. I assure you that there is no sticky feel aftermath, an issue I had previously. My skin feels better moisturized (soft, smooth and supple), with the new Nano Formula. I'm definitely enjoying the boosted hydrating effect it has on my skin. So far, it does not irritate my skin.

I clearly prefer the new Hydrating Lotion. And, it has inevitably become a staple in my skincare routine. Grab yours at Watsons!

Hada Labo UV Moist Emulsion SPF50+ PA+++

After using the highly coveted Hada Labo UV Moist Emulsion SPF50+ PA+++ for about a month, I'm sold. This is good, fantabulously good. I mean it, from my bottom of my frozen heart.

Simple and straightforward packaging, I like.

It is housed in a sleek slim bottle, with 38ml of product. Hmm... weird number, I know.

All you need to know (:

Free of artificial ingredients:- fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol, colorant

The nozzle enables me to have a better control of the amount of product I want to dispense for use.

Remember to give the bottle a good shake before use (:

A glossy white fluid, with a slightly watery emulsion-like consistency.

It disappears into skin, leaving no white cast. Just a slight sheen, that's all.

Easy to spread on skin.

After applying...

Close-up on my bare skin with only Hada Labo UV Moist Emulsion SPF50+ PA+++

It feels super lightweight on the skin, and it doesn't take long for it to be fully absorbed. Once absorbed, it leaves no white cast. As compared to other sunblocks, this has got to be the most moisturizing of all (thanks to the 3 types of hyaluronic acid it contains). My skin looks nicely supple and radiant after application, doesn't feel or look greasy at all. It makes a pretty good makeup base, as it enables foundation to glide on easily and last longer. I like how my skin doesn't feel overwhelmed with all those layers of skincare + sunblock + makeup on my face, especially with the incredulously hot weather nowadays. The sunblock power is enough for me as I'm one who's seldom exposed to sunlight for long hours.

At a relatively affordable price of $19.90, this is one sunblock you ought to try. That said, if you're going to use it on body as well, this can be rather costly.

Sponsored Review: Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion

Introducing Hada Labo’s latest Lifting & Firming Range with 3 premium and potent ingredients: Vitamin A RetinolHydrolyzed Collagen and Hada Labo’s signature ingredient, Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA), to restore youthful bounciness for your skin.

Hada Labo’s Lifting & Firming Range stays true to its PERFECT X SIMPLE brand philosophy ‐ using only the finest and purest ingredients without unnecessary additives, colorant, alcohol, fragrances and mineral oils.

There are 5 products in the new range:

  • Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion (170ml) - S$25.90
  • Retinol Lifting + Firming Cream (50g) - S$28.90
  • Retinol Lifting + Firming Essence (30g) - S$34.90
  • Retinol Lifting + Firming Milk (140ml) - S$25.90
  • Retinol Lifting + Firming Mask (20ml x 4 sheets)- S$23.90

I was provided with Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion to review by Hada Labo Sg/The Sample Store.

KEY INGREDIENTS:

  • Retinol Vitamin A - helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Collagen - improve skin's elasticity for firmer and more lifted skin
  • Super Hyaluronic Acid - instantly locks-in moisture to hydrate intensely, keeping skin soft and significantly smooth

*Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A which is beneficial for a youthful looking skin.

It was hard not to notice the fiery red packaging at Watsons stores. Very attention-seeking indeed (in a good way). This new Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion ($25.90) costs slightly higher than their best-selling Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturising Lotion ($22.90). Still an affordable anti-aging skincare product, I would say.

The texture of this Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion is slightly thicker as compared to Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturising Lotion. The color of the lotion is slightly cloudy yellowish.

A photo of my forehead, after applying Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion for the 1st time (30th June 2011).

How I apply?

After cleansing and toning, I pour 3 drops of Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion on palms and gently pat onto skin until thoroughly absorbed. Then my usual skincare follows.

My initial thoughts:

I kinda like this Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion. It feels slightly sticky at 1st, but the stickiness feeling is gone after 5 mins or so. Though it takes a fair bit of time for the lotion to be fully absorbed into skin, my skin feels really soft and supple after which.

Hmm.. So, what took me so long to post up this review?

After 2 days of use (taken with iPhone).

This is the reason why I decided to stop using Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion and go back to basic skincare routine for the time being.

As seen from the photo, the red bump is considerably big. AND, this is just part of my horrible skin state (!!), which left me in a moody state for weeks. I was wondering what exactly cause my skin to react so drastically in just 2 days?

Is the Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion too rich for me? Is it due to my late nights? Is it due to my eating habits? Is it due to some other skincare ingredients etc?

Here's my slightly better skin condition, 1 week after facial treatment at SPA-lon.

1 week ago, I started using the lotion (again) after another facial treatment (to be posted soon).

A photo of my face after applying Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion. My skin condition is much better now, though there're still visible scar marks.

My Review:

After using Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion for 1 week, I'm glad that my skin has not reacted adversely so far. In fact, I notice a slight improvement in the appearance of fine lines and firming of skin (as shown from the photos). The lotion does hydrate my skin pretty well. My skin feels really soft, supple and revitalized (as stated). The most significant change so far is my skin radiance; it is literally glowing from within! My pores have shrunken in size too. YES, I'm lovin' this lotion so far! A highly recommended product!

Thanks Hada Labo Sg & TSS for the sponsorship!

A Love/Hate Affair

it's been close to 2 weeks using hada labo super hyaluronic acid hydrating face wash & super hyaluronic acid hydrating lotion. so am i doing well with my lovers ?

let's start with the face wash. as mentioned earlier on, it's a very mild cleanser hence it won't cause irritation to skin. however, i find that it's too mild for my liking. or should i say it's not really suitable for my skin type (combination/oily) ? i'm a fickle-minded person. i may like something at first but that doesn't mean i'll like it later on. i like what is good for my skin, that is (: imo, it's more suitable for sensitive skin since it doesn't contain fragrance, mineral oil, alcohol & colorant.

so how about the hydrating lotion ? hmm.. i've got to say that it's really a love/hate affair. why ? i don't like the sticky feeling of the lotion. it takes a pretty long time to be absorbed into my skin and i got tired of 'pat, pat, pat'. lazy much -,- what i like about is that my skin becomes pretty moisturized after usage. i reckon it'll take me ages to finish this bottle coz one drop is what i need for the entire face. no more than that, definitely.

one point to note though. what's not suitable for me doesn't mean it's not suitable for you.

ALWAYS TRY BEFORE YOU BUY :D

My love affair has just started..

yes, my love affair has just started. i hope it'll last long. i've high expectations.. they say, the higher your expectations, the more disappointment you'll get. i shall now share with you my lover(s)..

:

:

:

this is the 1st picture i've taken with my lover no.1, affectionately known as hada labo super hyaluronic acid hydrating face wash. opps long name i know.. umm so how's my first date ?

first, i squeeze sufficient amount onto my palm.

then, i lather with water and massage the foamy goodness onto my face using gentle circular motions. it was a good sensation on my skin definitely, i like (: my skin feel perfectly cleansed and there was so sense of tightness. overall, this is a rather mild cleanser which won't strip the skin off moisture. this is the beginning of journey to silky smooth hydrated skin !

and so, this is my lover no.2, well-known as hada labo super hyaluronic acid hydrating lotion. actually i love this one more :x shh..

hmm.. the texture is mildly thick, a bit sticky. hence, 1 big drop is sufficient for my whole face. finally, i jus need to 'pat pat pat' onto my skin until thoroughly absorbed. my skin feels instantly hydrated ! slightly sticky feeling though..

oh well, i'll continue this affair till one day they fail me (hope not). they certainly have not disappoint me so far, keep up the good work ! ps: may my love for you(and you) grow day by day (:
