Nakajima Suisan Grilled Fish

One of my long-time fave Japanese food haunts in town is this hidden gem at Takashimaya - Nakajima Suisan Grilled Fish. It is "hidden" at the far end of Takashimaya Food Hall (right hand corner).

Initially, I only tried their oden (Japanese winter dish consisting of ingredients like hard-boiled eggs, daikon radish, processed fish cakes stewed in a light, soy-flavoured dashi broth). I can do without the ingredients actually. Just give me a big bowl of that broth is good enough. It is that tasty! Flavorful with a hint of sweetness. Oishi-neh~!

After some time, I started to try other dishes like chawanmushi, teriyaki ika, grilled cod fish... and got hooked since.

There is no service charge and GST is already included in the prices stated on the menu. Basically, you just need to order and pay at the counter, then wait for your order. It usually takes about 15mins or longer, depending on the crowd.

Complimentary hot green tea is served. And, it is refillable! :D

You must try their Gindara Teriyaki Set ($14.50), which comes with rice, miso soup, salad, pickles, tofu and grilled teriyaki cod fish. Very value-for-$!

Yummy healthy Japanese-style salad!

Tofu with lightly flavored mushroom sauce. This is also healthy! :P

Their cod fish is super duper fresh! And, the fish meat taste incredibly smooth and tender! By the way, I love to pour all the teriyaki sauce into the rice! Very yummilicious... hehee :d~

Another highly recommended dish is their chawanmushi (~$3). The perfectly steamed egg is sooo soft and silky smooth! One of the best ones I've tried so far. A must-try!

It's either I am too hungry or the food is too tasty :x
