Introducing Nicole by OPI

For the uninitiated, Nicole by OPI is not new in the market. It was launched back in 2007.

Nicole by OPI is known as the sister brand of OPI, which targets the younger market. It offers a salon-quality range of bold, fashion-forward nail lacquers. The brand’s heritage is based in OPI’s well-established foundation of excellence in both color and technology, providing premium products to a broad range of consumers looking for trendsetting nail lacquers.

I stumbled across this brand when it had its 1st celebrity collaboration featuring lacquers inspired by Justin Bieber. We all know him and his ever growing die-hard fans (and haters :x). The line’s initial run of 1 million bottles were sold out within less than 2 months - the power of JB! And not to mention, this number was tripled to meet consumer demand. WOW!

Following the successful launch of JBNicole by OPI went on to launch Kardashian Kolor. In January 2013, the brand released another 2 exciting new collections - Selena Gomez and ABC’s Modern Family

Do you know...

There are over 65 Nicole by OPI shades available internationally... AND over 120 shades in the US and Canada! In Singapore, there are 30 shades available at Watsons (retails for $12.90 each).

Last month, I attended their very 1st media launch event, held at Made by Lauren Jasmine (a fashion boutique cum cafe). Thank you, Adda & Leen (Touch Comm) for the invite!

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE COLOR

The place was filled with balloons, lots of them! Kudos to them for the lovely setup (:

A basketful of nail polishes for us to try on!

These 4 stood out to me instantly, especially the one with pink hearts!

From left to right:
  • Love Your Life
  • Look At Me, Look At Me
  • If The Blue Fits...
  • Kardashing Through The Snow

The pink, red shades...

The cooler shades...

The bold shades...

Hmm... I didn't manage to take photos of all the available shades. You can always visit the nearest Watsons store to check 'em out. Speaking of which, the nail colors look far more beautiful IRL! My photos are not doing them justice, seriously.

Our tummies were happily filled up with delectable pastries and desserts :d~

At the end of the event, we got to choose 10 shades. After much deliberation, here's my not-so-colorful "color wheel".

  • A Gold Winter's Night
  • Kardashing Through The Snow
  • Deck The Dolls
  • If The Blue Fits...
  • Yellow It's Me
  • Love Your Life
  • Count On Me
  • Purple Yourself Together
  • Just Busta Mauve
  • Look At Me, Look At Me

For a start, I shall feature my favoritest of the lot - Love Your Life. It won many hearts at the event!

Love Your Life is a clear-based nail polish with holographic micro-glitter bits and pretty pink hearts. The base is not thick or gel-like, quite liquidy actually. Hence, it is not that easy to get the hearts out. With that, I have to slightly tilt the bottle to the horizontal position to get the hearts out. Anyway, it applies smoothly and dries pretty fast (even without using Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat).

The other nail products used:

  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure 150 Angel Wings (iridescent shimmery white)
  • SpaRitual Clarity (a clear base, packed with silver and pink glitters)

That's all. Will be featuring the other nail polishes in separate post(s). Have a great weekend!

Bio-essence Bio Spring Water

Bio-essence has jumped on the facial mist bandwagon recently, naming theirs "Bio Spring Water". According to them, this Miracle Bio Water has 20 excellent efficacies (for face, hair and body), and is ideal for sensitive skin.

Backing up their claims, they have this exchange policy if you don't experience instant results after initial use.

It is available in 3 sizes >> 25ml - $5.90, 100ml - $12.90, 300ml - $28.90.

The one I received for review is in 100ml and another 3 bottles of 25ml are for giveaway.

I had a really hard time opening up the cap. Luckily, it was a one-off thing.

How to use?
Hold the bottle at a distance at least 20 cm away from your face/hair/body and spray. Pat it dry gently.

***NOTE: No need to pat dry after makeup.***

Bio-essence Bio Spring Water is not my 1st bottle of facial mist. So far, I've used brands like Avène, VichyLa Roche-Posay (just to name a few). And, I usually go for the biggest bottles available (especially when they are on offer! heh).

I think Bio-essence Bio Spring Water works pretty well for me. Oh, I really like how it dispenses finely and evenly (see pic above).

It soothes and calms irritated skin (my dry and sensitive legs) well. As for my face, I use it in place of toner (not on a daily basis). It does make my skin look slightly brighter thereafter. And, my pores look smaller and slightly refined. I don't think it's illusion (lol). Anyway, the results are temporary.

I like to spray this on after powder foundation, as it will make my face look naturally dewy instead of powdery.  It helps when it feels quite refreshing, especially when the weather is hot and humid. Speaking of which, Singapore's weather is nothing like that nowadays. I'm enjoying the cool weather so much (reminds me of HK) and hope it stays this way *fingers crossed*

I digress. Well, I tried using it on my hair-ends, and was quite surprised it does tame them quite well. They look less dry and wavy. Hmm... as for the other efficacies listed, they are for your reference. My skin certainly did not get firmer after using it.

Now for the giveaway (3 winners)...

Wanna try out Bio Spring Water? Simply be a follower of my blog via OnSugar or Facebook. Share and Comment "I want to try Bio Spring Water + email" HERE. The giveaway ends 24 Feb 2012, 2359.

Good luck!

L'oreal Shine Caresse

L'oreal Paris recently celebrated the launch of Shine Caresse, a new generation of shine on your lips. Think beautiful shades infused with a fresh shine to bring out the natural beauty of your lips with the gleam of a candy-colored caress.

Barbara Palvin (International Model), is the new (and youngest) ambassador of L'oreal Paris. She is the pretty face of Color Caresse lip colour and Miss Candy cosmetic range.

Last month, I attended the exclusive media preview of Shine Caresse at Equinox, Swissotel.

Shine Caresse has the color intensity of a lipstick, the shine of a lipgloss and the long lastingness of a lipstain.

Shine Caresse ($18.90) comes in 8 candy-colored shades:
  • 600 Venus (peach)
  • 603 Milady (iridescent violet)
  • 604 Bella (peach pink)
  • 605 Eve (fuchsia)
  • 606 Lolita (nude pink)
  • 702 Juliette (coral red)
  • 801 Princess (bright coral)
  • 900 Pretty Lady (nude brown)

The ultra-light fluid texture of Shine Caresse, allows it to melt onto the lips for a long-lasting moist-look effect combined with utmost comfort and freshness. The secret lies in its exceptionally high concentration of moisture, thanks to a unique formula of 30% water and 60% oil.

Shine Caresse:

  • a soft, moist-look effect
  • light, luminous shine
  • long-lasting hold
  • a sensation of fresh moisturization

The feather-shaped applicator shapes itself to the lips for easy, 1-step application without a mirror. It also accentuates the shiny, comfortable, non-sticky qualities of the texture.

There is actually a tiny hole in the center of the foam applicator that removes excess color as you apply the lip color. This helps to give the lips a light, subtle lustre.

Besides Shine Caresse, I also got a sneak preview of the upcoming Les Ombres EyeshadowCurl Impact Collagene Extreme Resist Mascara and Lucent Magique Two-Way Powder Foundation.

Thanks Jacelyn for the snapshot (:

Guests were treated to an express makeover at the booth to try out the new products and see the instant transformation.

A showcase of 3 different scenes: the Shine Caresse girl in the tub, on a Harley bike and as a rock star, each wearing a different shade of Shine Caresse.

The Shine Caresse show was artfully produced by Jerome Wasthi, while makeup looks were beautifully created by Larry Yeo.

The (generous) press kit with the full set of Shine Caresse, Les Ombres Eyeshadow and Curl Impact Collagene Extreme Resist Mascara. Thank you Shuzk Meng (Touch Comm) for the invite!

That will be all for now. Reviews and swatches will be covered in separate post(s). Stay tuned. Thank you for reading!

The Body Shop Chocomania Collection

The Body Shop recently brought back its popular Chocomania bath & body range, just in time for Valentine's Day.

Chocomania, the supreme hydration for your skin.

The chocolatey love package I received from The Body Shop, consists of a (white) chocolate & strawberry lollipop, together with Chocomania Body Scrub & Lotion. Thank you, Ching Yan!

Wear it, love it, but don’t eat it.

Check out the other products in this decadently chocolatey range HERE.

Chocomania Body Scrub
- $32.90 (200ml)

This tub of scrub can be well mistaken for a chocolatey dessert (see pic above). It contains REAL cocoa butter and organic cane sugar. The chocolatey scent is heavenly!

The granules gradually melt away while scrubbing, exfoliating the skin gently yet effectively. My skin feels velvety soft and smooth thereafter. It is so moisturizing that one can just skip the body lotion.

Chocomania Body Lotion
- $21.90 (250ml)

As my skin is rather dry, I slathered on in this lightweight but luxurious body lotion. This doesn't smell as chocolatey as the scrub, more (shea) buttery in my opinion. Either way, it smells good to me (:

The lovely combination of both products leave my skin incredibly soft, smooth and supple. Mmm... I smell delish!

This Valentine's Day, "Say it (I Love You) with Chocolate & Strawberry".

Check out the special gift sets HERE.

Price List (from top to bottom):
  • $14.90
  • $29.90
  • $45.90

That will be all for now. Thank you for reading!

The Rotisserie @ Rochester Mall

It was a rainy Sat morning. I forced myself to wake up as OpenRice was hosting their debut breakfast food tasting. How could I possibly missed it?!

And so, I woke up at 730am and arrived at The Rotisserie 2 hours later. The food tasting was held at the Rochester Mall outlet, approx. 10 mins walk from Buona Vista MRT. This was my 1st time visiting this restaurant, the mall as well.
Impressive morning crowd!

I had Smoked Salmon Bagel with Cream Cheese ($8). I opted for plain bagel instead of sesame. In my opinion, the price is pretty reasonable for a hearty breakfast like this. The smoked salmon tasted really good, not too salty. The cream cheese could be creamier and cheesier though. The side salad was also good, didn't taste too raw.

The other gals were saying that the bagel was a lil' hard. I personally think Starbucks one is harder (lol). Either ways, I love bagels!

As for beverage, I had Flat White. Well, I needed my caffeine fix. Hmm... mine was served in a takeaway container (see pic above), not good for photography purpose. One of the gals had hers in a cup (see pic below). Anyway, it tasted okay and went pretty well with my bagel.

Come, follow me on Instagram ^.^

Oh, it was difficult to eat my bagel with fork and knife... thus I just ate it the "burger way". So much easier! (;

It was a beautiful Sat morning with the ladies indeed. Soooooo much enjoyable this time!

I shall end this post with a super cute photo of my eye-candy, Yeon Jung Hoon. He was in Singapore to promote Top Gear Korea. More photos of him in a separate post

Thank you for reading!
