Review: L'oreal Youth Code

Here's a mini review on the L'oreal Youth Code products I had gotten from the Bloggers Event about 2 weeks back. All in all, I received were Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Day Cream, Eye Cream Concentrate.

A quick refresh on L'oreal Youth Code:

  • Through the study of differences in gene expression between young and old skin, L'oreal Advanced Research, in collaboration with independent scientists, deciphers the "code" of youthful skin.
  • BREAKTHROUGH DERIVED FROM GENE SCIENCE
  • 10 YEARS OF RESEARCH !
  • 3 PATENTS
  • The patented Pro-Gen™ Technology is designed to help tired skin to recover and re-establish its natural "youth code".

Rejuvenating Anti-wrinkle Eye Cream

This eye cream targets especially crow's feet and under-eye bags (which I don't have, fortunately -.-") BUT I do have dark eye circles.

Can you see that it is actually slightly tinted (pale pinkish) ? The slight tint will help to illuminate the eye contour area, adding radiance. I apply half a rice grain size for both my under-eye area day & night.

Yays:

  • Non-greasy buttery texture.
  • Easily absorbed; melts into the skin.
  • My dark circles appear visibly reduced.

Nays:

  • Distinctive scent.
  • It will be good a spatula is included for scooping out the eye cream (hygiene).

Rating: (Very Good)

Rejuvenating Anti-wrinkle Concentrate

This concentrate targets more apparent wrinkles. So I applied this on my forehead, laugh lines, my neck area, day & night on perfectly cleansed face.

Yays:

  • Non-greasy creamy texture.
  • Easily absorbed; melts into the skin.
  • My skin feels soft, smooth & firm.
  • The wrinkles appear visibly reduced.
  • Of the 3 products, I'm not disturbed by the scent of this.
  • Squeeze-tube with a tiny nozzle, most hygienic as there is no direct contact with my fingers.

Nays:

  • None

Rating: (Very Good)

Rejuvenating Anti-wrinkle Day Cream

Concentrate vs Day Cream.

As compared to the eye cream & concentrate, this day cream has the lightest texture. It can be used day & night though it is stated as a DAY cream.

Yays:

  • I like the lighter gel-like texture, which is non-greasy too.
  • Fastest to be absorbed; melts into the skin.
  • My skin feels hydrated & smooth.
  • My skin appears to be more radiant & rejuvenated.

Nays:

  • It will be good a spatula is included for scooping out the day cream (hygiene).

Rating: (Very Good)

Overall, I like this Youth Code range as my skin has become visibly smoother and more luminous. This is great for those who wanna start using anti-ageing skincare products without breaking the bank.

That's all for now. Any queries, feel free to ask me. More skincare reviews coming up (:

Mini ASOS Haul

My first ASOS (mini) haul sometime back, all makeup-related stuff. My gf was the one who handled this order since her colleagues wanted to buy stuff as well. Shipping works out to be only S$1 per item, I think.

Barry M Blushers x 4. £4.50 each I think. Apricot (orangey) & Terracotta (brownish).

Rose (warm pink) & Pink Orchid (cool pink). There are 2 other colors I didn't get - Strawberry & Raspberry, both reddish colors.

Description (website):

These extra fine blushers are available in six sheer colours for easy blending and a perfect, flawless finish. They contain the anti-oxidant Vitamin E to protect and condition the skin and keep it smooth and supple.

This Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder 001 Transparent was selling for only £4, which works out to be only S$10ish and it's unavailable in S'pore I think.

Description (on back of product):

Up to 5 hours natural shine control with natural minerals. Helps minimize the appearance of pores. Dermatologically tested.

Illamasqua Eye Liner Cake (Zeal). Matte moss green.

Illamasqua Powder Eye Shadow (Matter). Grey.

Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm. Long-lasting relief for dry, chapped lips.

Urban Decay Double Barrel Sharpener. I got this @ £4 if I'm not wrong. Check out makeupstash review (:

Just a mini haul, that's all for now.

CLEO (PUPA) Makeup Session by Andy Lee

Last Sunday, I attended CLEO (PUPA) makeup session by the renowned Celebrity Makeup Artist, Andy Lee. I had registered for this event through sms, and received an email from CLEO that I was able to attend. It wasn't a private event and those who happened to be shopping at The Heerens, were able to enjoy this makeup session as well.

CLEO readers who registered for this event. Spot me (;

He was super focused in doing the makeup for the model, see the serious look on his face (:

Andy Lee, with the model of the day.

After the makeup session ended, it was time for yummy makeup food hahas xD There was a CLEO goodie bag as well as a PUPA black eyeliner given to us. I didn't buy any makeup in the end though there was 10% discount promotion going on. Too crowded at the makeup counter and there were only a few PUPA assistants. Since nobody attended to me, I might as well buy on another day right (;

Btw, credits to PUPA Sg FB Fanpage for the photos above. You can check out the rest of the event photos by clicking the link.

Throughout the event, we got to test out some of PUPA makeup products.

This is how PUPA Smoothing Foundation Primer 01 Transparent looks like. The texture feels pretty similar to Sephora Smoothing Primer, and the skin feels really smooth after application. According to Andy Lee, the primer acts as a stocking for our skin so that our skin looks smooth and flawless. He advocates against using too much foundation due to Singapore's hot & humid weather. It is not a pretty sight to see our makeup "crack" and melt, yes ? Makeup base/primer is best recommended to correct the imperfections, with minimal use of foundation.

Product description (website):

To make skin even and smooth, for a real "silk effect".
Fine lines are minimized, as if they were "filled", the face skin is as smooth as silk.
The texture is smooth and evanescent and blends perfectly with face skin, turning into a natural, matt effect face powder with a long lasting hold.

It creates the perfect light and comfortable base to apply make-up, making the skin soft and smooth.
The reticular micro-structure, enriched with vitamin E, relaxes skin texture without giving that clogging feeling: face looks relaxed and fresh, the skin breathes.
Airless dispenser tube.

Comes in 2 other versions: 02 Green (correct redness), 03 Violet (correct yellow skin).

PUPA Luminys Baked Blush. Swatches of some of the colors. Pretty right ? The color pigmentation is pretty good I would say. I especially like the rose shade in the middle.

Product description (website):

Gives cheeks a glow with a natural, adjustable effect for a radiant, healthy-looking effect.

This light, silky powder has perfect hold and can be blended in with ease.
Contains jojoba oil with hydrating, protective action for skin that's never dry.

The production technology behind baked products ensures: optimal softness to the touch, maximum effect when applied and maximum hold.

Andy Lee shared a makeup tip on how to apply blusher. His tip is different from Niu Er's. Firstly, use a brush sweep flat on the blush to pick up the color gently. Place brush flat on face and sweep the color on the cheeks gently. This way, the color is distributed evenly on the cheeks, imparting a natural flush.

PUPA Luminys Baked Eyeshadow. This is my favourite, followed by the blush. The brown swatch on the left was applied wet, see the intensity & pearlescent effect ! The light pink swatch is super gorgeous, yes ?

Product description (website):

An extraordinary result thanks to its advanced oven baking technology that enhances all properties of colour, ensuring maximum performance in application and hold.
Luminys baked Eyeshadow is a concentrate of pigments and precious pearls, which can be used either wet or dry, to find the desired intensity. Use it dry for a delicate and bright result, and wet for an intense and pearly effect. Vibrant colours and spectacular effects for surprising, seductive and hypnotizing eyes.

The result? An impeccable make-up.

Hypo-allergenic and ophtalmologically tested.

PUPA Glitter Eyeliner. IMO, this is quite average. Hmm I like the dark blue color though. Should I get it ? I really wonder about the long last part..

Product description (website):

Magic sensuality to your eyes!
A special eyeliner pencil with full colours and spectacular silver glitters.
Bright, long lasting result.

This is me, with minimal makeup after more than 6 hours. Looking alright, yes ? Anyway, I pat on Bio-essence Bio Platinum BB Cream, followed by Kevin Beautymaker Tranexamic Acid Whitening Pressed Powder no.3 Natural. I lightly brushed on Shu Uemura Glow On Blush P Peach 40. ZA Plumper Lips 01 Ruby Dazzle on my lips (I touched up for this only).

For eye makeup, no eyeshadow, just Stage Broadway Brown eyeliner and L'oreal Black Voluminous Waterproof Mascara.

Dated Collective Hauls Part 2

Here's Part 2 of my dated collective hauls. CLICK HERE for Part 1.

I bought these Sally Hansen Diamond Strength nail polishes at Watsons since there was a promotion going on ($9.90 instead of the usual $13.90). Now, you can still purchase at this discounted price as the promotion is back ! Oh I especially love the shimmery one as it gives my nails a super high-shine shimmery finish (think gel nails). My gf who's super good in doing nails, loves this as well :p

Product Description (website):

  • Diamond Strength: Instantly bonds with nails to provide a shatterproof, diamond hard protective coating that virtually ends splitting, cracking and peeling.
  • Diamond Shine: Light-refractive diamond particles go beyond ordinary lacquer to produce a multi-dimensional faceted shine.
  • Diamond Wear: Long-lasting color is chip-resistant, fade-resistant and waterproof.
  • Special Ingredients: Exclusive micro-diamond formula guarantees a brilliant, multi-faceted shine!
  • Available in 36 shiny shades.

Majolica Majorca Eyes Reset Gel is a fragrance-free eye makeup remover that dissolve and remove any heavy makeup & stubborn waterproof mascara effectively and effortlessly. No additional cleansing required as it is formulated with treatment ingredients such as Vitamin E derivative and macadamia nut oil, which conditions the sensitive skin around eye area. This retails for only $9.90. I'll do a mini review soon (:

I've been a regular user of Neutrogena sheet masks and I love to purchase them @ Watsons for $1.95 (promotional price) each. Now they've revamped the mask design ! New 3D stretchable design, which can fit our face shape & contours perfectly. Sounds really good eh. Anyone tried yet ?

Another new addition to my nail polish collection, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri nail polish (Jumpin' Jade).

Product description (website): One stroke application. One coat coverage. Perfectionist BrushTM delivers a fast, flawless application that dries to a shiny finish in 60 seconds. It dries in 60 seconds. Toluene, DBP, and Formaldehyde free. Special Ingredients: Exclusive formula with FlexiglassTM Complex for Strength and Brilliant Shine. Available in 32 irresistible shades !

Sana Make Essence Concealer. Cute packaging. Hmm I'll use it for my dark eye circles.

Updated: CLICK HERE (This concealer is meant to conceal wrinkles, not dark eye circles. Blur me, bought the wrong one. Thanks Anonymous Bosch !)

I've gotten this Ossion Mild Touch Detox Bubble Mask sample from The Sample Store. Never heard of this brand before. Btw it's from Korea and it sounds really promising, judging from what I've read on the website. Anyway, shall try it out !

CLEO magazine freebies (: Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate sachet sample and Whisper Nights Super Long Overnights Pad. Hmm I've tried the pad and what I can say is it's really SUPER LONG !! I felt as if I was wearing adult diaper (mini version), super uncomfortable -__-" I'll never buy this for sure.

This Sana PorePutty Make Up Base SPF17/PA++ was bought at John Little. It claims to create even-looking skin, by covering the visible pores. Foundation application is made easier. It contains silicon and sebum-absorbing powder. Is it really that good ?

Ignore the $4.90 price tags. I bought these @ 2 for $1 !! ;D

The store-wide $2 store, Daiso ! I bought this to hold my eyeliners.

These are for storing makeup/nail polishes ?

Hmm these are either for brushes or more eyeliners.. or prolly mascaras ?

I bought these to complement my face cleansing. I haven't use the wash net yet. The face cleansing brush bristles seem to be a lil' harsh on my skin. Maybe I'll just use it to brush my neck area only.

Compact laundry bag, I really need this (lol).

I love this Tohato Caramel Corn snack alot !! Do try it, and get addicted like I do :p I can easily finish one whole packet on my own.

Organic Cotton rounds and pads from The Body Shop. They retail for about $2+ or $3+ I think, very affordable !

Hmm more cleansing stuff ! I think my face is very "dirty" :x The Body Shop Soft Facial Cleansing Sponge and Facial Buffer.

I saw this The Body Shop Autumn Leaves Compact on several blogs.. and I got tempted.. I wanted to get both initially but I end up getting just this Berry one. The swatches are beautiful, remind me of MAC MSF. Hmm but.. one thing I notice about The Body Shop makeup, they break too easily ! This was what happened to my bronzer compact and eyeshadow :,( Or is it just me ?

I bought this pair of fake lashes @ $4.90 I think, after I saw the salesgirl wearing 'em. Sooo nice !

I like to buy nail polishes at The Face Shop as the price is very affordable $2.90 ! I've almost every color available :p

I used to dislike yellow color. Hmm I still dislike orange color though. Very random, I know hahas xD

Base nail polish. Shit, I forgot I've one at home :/

Canmake Colorful nail polish, my favourite pink ! See the pretty shimmers !

Beauty magazine from Kinokuniya. It helps that I love reading Chinese :D

CLEO magazine. I don't really like this particular month magazine front cover color combination and featured celebrity :S

It's a Japanese magazine 'SWEET' and I can't read hahas xD

Quite a small but pretty Anna Sui bag.

I like the Anna Sui pouch color & floral design. Both are well-made, considering they are freebies.

Women's Weekly with free Phyto Restructuring Mask. I simply love good deals like this, plus I enjoy reading this magazine ! Usually, I'll twitter about it when I chance upon magazine freebie(s).

I got this Biore Makeup Remover (for Eye & Lip) sample but yet to try yet. So far its reviews are good, from what I've gathered from most beauty blogs.

More haul posts to be up. Any queries, feel free to ask me :D
