TRY.BELIEVE.LOVE [Sephora/Bare Escentuals]

Being a (super) regular customer of Sephora Sg, I constantly get email updates from 'em. That is very much appreciated. Customer service has improved significantly. That goes to show the focus group thingy did help somehow. BUT they should do something about the BAs' product knowledge seriously. Think we know better than 'em =.=~ Most of the time, we end up advising ourselves (lol).

And so.. Today, I received this email to redeem a 1-week trial bareMinerals SPF15 foundation. NICE. Since I was heading to Sephora ION to get some stuff to get the $40 voucher anyway. LAST DAY! Won't go into details on my purchase. Shall leave it for later.

This is the actual product that I got. A rather tiny one. Wonder it'll really last me for 7-10 days? Hmm..

My shade -> medium beige.

Actually, they forgot to insert one word. TRY.BELIEVE.LOVE.BUY

1 • DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™; "A View on Eye Beauty @ ION Sky"

Thanks to Chantana, me & Jones got to attend "A View on Eye Beauty @ ION Sky" by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care (JJVC).

It's my our 1st time there! All the way @ Level 56! @.@ An eye-opener indeed......

[14 June 2011] JJVC brought together a panel of science and beauty experts at its 1st ever beauty workshop to unveil insights into eye beauty. Industry experts shared their insights into the factors that define attractive eyes, the science behind why eyes are deemed as the window to one's soul, and tips on how to achieve the latest looks and enhance eye beauty.

Favorit-est photo of that day! Showcasing our awesome hair colors! Our hair colors did faded by a fair bit but still.. Sooo muucchh better than my hair now.. *sob sob*

Hope I'll be able to attend the next hair color session.. >.<~~ (A shout-out to Mr Kuah B.L.)

To start the ball rollin', there's Faridah Ali Chang (registered psychologist, principal trainer and consultant from Rainbow Centre Training & Consultancy), to share with us that the eyes receive greater attention than any other facial feature. True to that.

In fact, according to a recent survey by JJVC, a whopping 80% of S'poreans rank the eyes as the most important facial asset of naturally beautiful women.

Female faces with large eyes in proportion to the face and clearly visible limbal rings (the dark ring outside the iris), were rated as more attractive to men. Thicker limbal rings makes the eyes appear larger and thus more attractive. That explains the rising popularity of beauty enhancement lenses. And her, we're talking about 1 • DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™.

Next, Mr Peter Angel Wanneck (principal from The School of Make-Up) shared with us the latest make-up tips to get that naturally glamorous look effortlessly.

The current trend is the "natural" make-up look with a focus on defining the eyes that bear resemblance to the Korean's ulzzang style. Ulzzang (pronounced as uhl-jang) translates to "best face" or "good looking".

Using beauty enhancement lenses can increase the size of the iris and literally bring more "life" to the eyes! A palette of bronze and earthy tones for the natural subtle eye makeup, perfectly complements all Asian skin tones. To complete the uzzlang look, define the eyes using a brown eyeliner, soft pink blush, light-stroked brows and a sweet natural color lipgloss.

(Photo taken from Acuvue FB Fanpage) Natural is beauty.

The event ended with Ms Shirley Loh (Professional Affairs Manager from JJVC), who shared her views on the rise in popularity of beauty enhancement lenses.

In S'pore, the no. of beauty enhancement contact lens wearers have doubled in the last 3 years. With this increasing usage, women in particular, are increasingly on the lookout for lenses that enhance beauty while ensuring their eye health is not compromised.

Developed by JJVC, the Beauty-Wrapped-In-Comfort™ technology envelops the colorants within the lenses so that they are not in direct contact with the eyes. FYI, 1 • DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ is the No.1 best-seller in Korea, where women are known for their impeccable sense of fashion, style and beauty.

The fully-filled plate is mine.. They went for 2nd round, which I didn't (lol).

Me loveeee polaroid shots! :3

The handy gift - L'occitane Verbena Cleansing Hand Wash. A gentle reminder for us to wash our hands before putting on contact lenses. Thoughtful much :D

As for the 1 • DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ NATURAL SHINE™, I redeemed thru' the Acuvue website.

Lee Min Jung1 • DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ brand advocate. If you're into K-drama, you might find her familar. Her lastest drama - Midas. (Sidetrack: I kinda gave up after watching a few episodes. Might continue watching I guess.)

LOTD: A Touch of Elegance

I'm back with a dated LOTD post! I wore this look for the FORD Supermodel Singapore 2011 Finals. That night, I was wearing this black layered tube dress. Super pretty right?! (esp. the model >.<)

Here's my look. No fake lashes coz I was in a rush. My real lashes ain't THAT bad anyway (lol).

I totally love the radiant look, thanks to Kanebo Freshel White C BB Cream! Will be doing a proper review soon (draft "sitting" in the folder :x). I purchased this earlier this year at Watsons for only $23 I think. An awesome buy indeed. It's in my top must-have BB Creams list!

Have I told y'all that I'm pretty much in love with Illamasqua Blush (Kiss)? It gives me the "after-2.4km-run" slightly flushed cheeks One needs to be light-handed when applying the blush as it's pretty pigmented. It looks so much better on the face than on the pan! Illamasqua blushers never seem to fail me and I'm definitely lemmin' for moreee!

Impromptu Haul: L'oreal Expo Sale, Korean Foodstuff & Watsons

It was an impromptu decision going for the L'oreal Expo Sale. I had to collect my Hada Labo new product (for review) from the post office. So I thought I'll just head down to take a look since it was pretty near for me. Hmm.. Somewhat disappointed? Or maybe not?

The sale commences today, ends on Sunday. I reached before 1015am. And, there's already quite a number at the respective counters. Frankly speaking, there isn't much stuff to buy (for me). If you seldom go to such sale, prolly you'll enjoy the sale. I've been to numerous L'oreal sales and the products available for sale are somewhat the same. Anyway, it's individual preference. I saw some really buy alot. Usually, the prices will be slashed down by quite a fair bit at the very last day. However, the more popular products might be sold out by then.

My mini haul. Told ya so. Finally L'oreal Exfotonic is on sale! I love this coz it gives me baby smooth skin after use. Have you tried? It's really THAT awesome. The usual price is $20.90 I think. I got it for $10 :p

La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water $20.90 $10! Good buy eh.

Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation BO-1 $26.90 $10! I've been wanting to try it after Chantana bought it few months ago. Now is a good chance to try ^^

Total spent = $30

Total saved = $38.70

There's a Food Fair and I bought Korean foodstuff! Korean-crazy recently :3

Tidbits. Quite small pack. Can munch on while watching K-drama hehe~ I tasted before buying. So these are the good ones lol! Love the Smoky Bacon Chips!

Lotte Choco Pie, the aunty's recommendation. Instant Ramen-s (Kimchi & Hot Mushroom)!

More snacks and something healthy - Honey Citron Tea.

Total spent = <$25

Went to check out Watsons promotion.

I finally bought My Beauty Diary (MBD) Hello Kitty Mask Sets! There's 5% off for this. $16.90 $16.05! I got the Honey Strawberry one today and paid only $16.05. As for the Strawberry Milk one, I got last week (I think). No discount >.<

Anyway, will review 'em soon! The packaging is super duper kawaii

Buy 'em if you haven't do so. Limited edition yo! GO-GO-GO!

LOTD(?):

  • Murad Hybrids Eye Lift Illuminator
  • Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer Matte Finish
  • Olay White Radiance UV Blocker SPF30 PA++

LOTD: Rainbow Flutters &.. A Review on Maybelline BB Cream

This was the LOTD I had on the day of the FORD Supermodel Singapore 2011 Media Event. I decided to have a rainbow theme. Hmm.. More colors for my eye makeup (I mean). And, check out my super long lashes! Yes, fake ones (duh). LOL.

What's on my face. The title says it all: Maybelline BB CreamMaybelline Clear Smooth Minerals BB Cream SPF 26/PA+++ (Fresh) to be specific. Received this at the Bloggers' event and I've used it for several times. So, time for a review!

Photo (above) re-used :x

On to my review. For me, the BB cream texture is just right (not too thick, not too runny). Best thing? Blends effortlessly, giving my face a really nice brightening touch. A dewy finish, certainly not matte. No sticky feel. Oil control not that fantastic, not THAT bad as well. Coverage wise, is quite good (for me). Evens out my skin tone well. However, there's a need for a separate concealer if you want perfect full-coverage.

"Fresh" is a good match for me (NC20), and I find it really easy to apply. You know some BB creams ain't easy to apply and often leaves an ugly white cast. I find it rather disturbing, seeing ladies with ashy-looking faces on photos as well as in real life. DO NOT use a much lighter shade and think you'll look fairer. That's NOT the way. Trust me. Thankfully, Maybelline BB Cream doesn't make me look ashy. Agree much?

While the Maybelline BB Cream promises 8 Healthy Skin Benefits, namely Hydration, Skin Elasticity, Reduced Redness, Natural Radiance, Clarity, Smoothness, Reduced Pore Size, Reduced Dullness. I don't know about Skin Elasticity. Don't think it helps much in that aspect. Overall, it fulfills 7 out of 8 benefits (IMO). Not bad eh. I like that it doesn't have any peculiar scent to it. Oh, the price is super wallet-friendly ($16.90). Even better when there's promotion going on! eg. $13.52 after 20% discount. You won't regret purchasing this! (:

The lenses I had on was super uncomfortable. Made me tear non-stop :/ I discarded 'em after just using 'em twice. It was supposed to last me for months! And, I didn't like the stupid eyeliner. The one I used to line my bottom lashline. Majolica Majorca Cream Pencil Liner BK999, from the Chapter 30: Sugary Trap Collection. I love BR611 so much, yet I hate this black one to the core. Why?! :/

It smudges and flakes badly on me. Doesn't apply on smoothly. I hate it. Period.

A Monday Lunch Affair @ Botanic Gardens ♥

A meetup finally with the ladies, on 9th May. Yups that's last month. And, June is gonna end in a week's time.

Time FLIES.

Instant attraction to the white swans, seriously. No joke man. Here's the zoom-ed in shots. Pretty eh.

Yes, another attraction. We're that easily fascinated. The weird-looking yet interesting flowers.

Yeah! My 1st time to Botanic Gardens! >.<~~

A long walk......

Finally! Lunch @ Halia Restaurant. We had Lunch Specials.

3-Course $32++. Expensive.

For appetiser, it was a dish I'd never tried before. Beetroot, goat feta cheese, fresh orange, pine nut, mesclun salad in xeres vinaigrette. A rather big portion AND of acquired taste.

The ladies ordered the respective 3 other appetisers on the Lunch Specials Menu.

The dish on the left is an appetiser as well - Jalapeno basil prawn cake with mango salsa and mesclun salad. On the right, is the Singapore-style chilli crab spaghettini (with real crab meat). They had this as their main course.

I had something different, which is the herb-marinated seafood skewer. There's grilled prawn, scallop, squid and mussel, couscous salad and citrus vinaigrette. Very fresh and juicy. Small portion though. I did help 1 of 'em polish off the spaghettini :d~ FYI, me don't like to waste food.

The desserts were not bad. Mine was really normal. Chocolate brownie, macadamia ice cream, pecan and maple syrup.

More interesting ones are the cappuccino "dunking pit" and young ginger frozen nougat parfait. According to the waitress, the former had a strong taste which one might not like. My friend went ahead to order it and thankfully she did. It taste awesomeee! Layered warm chocolate, vanilla ice cream AND iced coffee shaving WITH brownie cookie! OMG what's not to like?! Kinda overwhelming for one BUT it makes a good dessert to SHARE

Recommended! (if you've the extra cash to spare.) An occasional indulgence doesn't hurt.

JUMP.shots.fail.max.

The weather was super duper effin' hot! But great for camwhorin' though. Oh well.

Fascinated by the mini waterfall. Like what the DOTS. Ahems.

Don't look like we're in S'pore somehow.

My really simple LOTD using Maybelline BB Cream. Flawless skin? :3

If only I can slim down just like Missy Lee. If only I hate eating. No way. I live to eat. Gosh.

A super candid shot. DOTS.
